After watching the movie Julie and Julia, I am once more inspired to pursue this ambition to cook and write. I must say it is very unoriginal of me to think that by watching a movie about blogging and cooking will inspire me to do the same thing. But rather than thinking of it as copying Julie Powell's endeavor, it is more of a beacon that will guide me towards my own uniqueness. Insert random originality quote
here.
I am very honored that
laikaken and
sugarcages had asked me to participate in this blog -- as they both well know that I've had at least four blogs that have all been deleted, plus the fact that I hardly ever finish anything I start.
I really like to cook --- I'd even take it as far as to say that I started to cook when I was only eight years old. I constantly watched my relatives cook food, but the real emancipation of this little chef was when my nanny was sick and was unable to cook food for me and my sibling. I remember it well: she woke up me up one summer morning, groaning from a stomach ache brought about eating too much mangoes. She claimed that it was some sort of pesticide that had made her sick, I always thought it was
impacho -- or
over eating.
Anyway, the first thing I've ever cooked in my life was a cheese quesadilla. Shredded cheddar cheese spread in between two flour tortillas, microwaved for 30 seconds. My father taught me this recipe during one of his midnight snack runs. The rest as they say is history -- I was addicted to cooking. So I hope that
altanghap becomes a long term project bewteen friends. I am very excited and hopeful that this is a start of something that I could finish -- not that I have thought of an ending just yet. That would be another entry. :-)
